This book was an impulse buy when I was looking for another book. I was attracted by the plot, which sounded interesting, and by the the author. The premise is indeed an interesting one, with a couple of chancers who stumble into a town where a family has just won over million dollars on the lottery/5(65).

This book deals with two adolescent boys as they attempt to foil an evil plot against their treetop kingdom. Because Ark and Mucum are sewage workers, the book- especially at the beginning- has plenty of toilet humour and wackiness, and comes across as a slightly more well-behaved Terry Pratchett book.4/4(29).

He is now married to Catherine; they have three children, Eden, Rebecca and Author: Donovan Hamilton. The Raven's Eye is a rare miss by Barry Maitland in his Brock & Kolla series. It's well-written and I still really like the lead characters, but there's too much going on in this novel, too many plot twists and things that are so unlikely to really happen that I had a suspicion about 2/3 of the way through that I wasn't going to like the /5.
